The research of rationship between frontal white matter lesions and the damage of cognitive function in Subcortical ischemic cerebrovascular disease

[Abstract]Objective: to analysis effects on cognitive function with frontal lobe white matter lesions in subcortical ischemic vascular disease. Methods: retrospectively collected during the subcortical ischemic cerebrovascular disease 121 cases from January 2013 to January 2015, in our department. Divided them into two groups: mild (67 cases) and severe cerebral white matter lesions group (54 cases) according to the degree of frontal white matter lesions. Choose 60 cases the same age who are healthy and without cognitive impairment as the control group. All the subjects are right-handed, and the native language is Chinese. Evaluate the three groups with neuropsychological scale determination, and assess their cognitive function, memory function and executive function, and to find out the relationship of extent of the frontal lobe white matter lesions and cognitive function ues nonparametric rank correlation analysis.Results: compared with mild cerebral white matter lesions group and the control group, in severe brain white matter lesions group, the the MMSE scores, AVLT, ROCF and Stroop scoress are significantly lower,P values <0.05. MMSE scores and pathological changes of cerebral white matter damage in patients with severe degree were positively correlated (R = 0.933, P = 0.933), in other words, the severity of cerebral white matter lesions was positively correlated with the degree of cognitive impairment. Conclusion:1. subcortical ischemic cerebrovascular disease with mainly involving the frontal lobes of the brain white matter, and will lead to the disorder in memory function and executive function, cognitive function;2.the severity of cerebral white matter lesions was positively correlated with the degree of cognitive impairment.
